DIN EN 60309-1 Berichtigung 1:2014-12

This standard applies to plugs, socket-outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers, hereafter referred to as "couplers", with rated operating direct or alternating voltages up to 1 000 V, 500 Hz and a rated current up to 800 A, which are primarily intended for industrial applications within outside of buildings. These couplers may only be installed by electrically instructed or skilled persons. This standard applies to couplers for use at ambient temperature which normally lies within a range of -25 °C to +40 °C. This standard applies to couplers with screwless terminals or insulation piercing terminals having a rated current up to and including 16 A for series I and 20 A for series II. This does not exclude the use of these couplers at constructions sites as well as agricultural, commercial and residential premises. Socket-outlets or appliance inlets installed in or on electric equipment are within the scope of this standard. This standard also applies to extra-low-voltage installations. This standard does not apply to couplers primarily used for household and similar purposes. In areas subject to special conditions, such as ships or areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere, additional requirements may become necessary. This European Standard applies to products intended for use with cables of metric sizes (mm²). DIN EN 60309-1 (VDE 0623-1):2012-12 has been modified by making a correction in Table 3 of Subclause 10.4. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.4 "Industriesteckvorrichtungen" ("Industrial plugs and sockets") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
