The subject of this standard is the investigation of corrosive influences of the environment on electrical engineering products, materials and components, in particular on contacts and connecting elements during operation and storage indoors. The test methods presented are aimed at the selection of suitable materials, constructive design and production processes with regard to resistance to corrosion. The methods can be applied to individual parts as well as to integrated assemblies or entire products. The test results provide comparative statements for an evaluation against specific requirement parameters in each case. Annex C provides guidance on the selection of the appropriate method from those presented. The responsible committee is DKE/K 131 "Umgebungsbedingungen, Klassifizierung und Prüfungen" ("Environmental conditions, classification and methods of test") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60068-2-60:1996-09 .
