This Part 1 of the IEC 60068 series contains general specifications and provides guidance for the different applications and concrete assignments of the test methods set out in Parts -2-. These methods show the resistance to expected environmental influences during transport, storage, installation and under operating conditions during the service life. For specific requirements, the type of test and severity level will be appropriate (tailoring process) according to the expected natural environmental conditions. Climatic and mechanical stresses such as temperature, air pressure, shocks or other influences shall be taken into account. With the aim of describing realistic and reproducible test methods, the methods are based on international engineering experience and also allow random samples of test specimens to be compared. The following changes have been made compared to DIN EN 60068-1:1995-03: - The list of normative references has been updated. - Normative or informative annexes are marked accordingly. - A new informative Annex C "Specific adaptation - tailoring - of environmental tests" has been introduced. The responsible committee is DKE/K 131 "Umgebungsbedingungen, Klassifizierung und Prüfungen" ("Environmental conditions, classification and methods of test") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60068-1:1995-03 .
