DIN EN 599-1 specifies for each of the five use classes defined in EN 335, the biological tests required for evaluating the efficacy of wood preservatives for the preventive treatment of solid timber. Amendment A1 takes into account the revision of the previous standards DIN EN 152-1 and DIN EN 152-2 and their combination in DIN EN 152:2012-02 for the determination of the protective effectiveness of a preservative treatment against blue stain in wood in service. Moreover, criteria for determining the effectiveness against termites have been updated for the superficial application and the penetrating process. In Annex B, specifications relating to the tolerances have been modified. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 und ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 38 and ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Durability of wood and wood products") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN 599-1:2009-10 .
