DIN EN 50657:2017-11

This European Standard specifies the process and technical requirements for developing software for programmable electronic systems for application on rail vehicles. It is only applicable to software and the interaction between software and the system to which the software belongs. This European Standard applies to safety-related and non-safety-related software, including, for example: - application programming; - operating systems; - supporting tools; - firmware. Software forming part of a signaling device (railway control and monitoring) of trains is outside the scope of this standard. The same applies to software not used for railway applications and that does not affect the functions of rail vehicles when it is separate from software for railway applications. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 351.1 "Fahrzeuge" ("Rolling stock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
