Overview

This standard specifies cables for use in Photovoltaic (PV) Systems. These cables are suitable for permanent outdoor use for many years under variable demanding climate conditions. For this reason, correspondingly demanding requirements have been created for these products in accordance with the tough conditions to be expected. The requirements apply to flexible, single-core halogen-free power cables with cross-linked insulating covering and sheath with low emission of smoke and corrosive gases in case of fire, especially for use on the direct current (DC) side of photovoltaic systems with rated DC voltages of up to 1.5 kV between the conductors and between conductor and earth. The cables are suitable to be used with Class II equipment. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 411.2 "Isolierte Starkstromleitungen" ("Insulated cables, wires and flexible cords for power installation") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
