This standard contains the German version of European Standard EN 50561-3:2016 and provides limits and methods for measuring the radio disturbance characteristics of communication equipment for indoor use that uses low-voltage electrical installations as a transmission medium. It applies to equipment that uses frequencies including those above 30 MHz in order to communicate, assuming that the emission limits specified in this standard effectively limit information transmission to frequencies below to 87.5 MHz. Procedures are given for the measurement of signals generated by the equipment and limits are specified within the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz. For the transmission operation of the PLC device, limits related to the useful signal are also specified as maximum values of the unbalanced transmission levels between 30 MHz and 87.5 MHz fed between two phase conductors or between phase and neutral conductors, which serve to avoid interference of other services by the useful transmission. These maximum values are lowered for the protection of special services operating in certain frequency bands; the frequency bands concerned are listed in Annex A of this standard. No measurement is required at frequencies where no limits are specified. An example of a measurement setup is described in Annex B of this standard. A new network had to be defined to evaluate the signals injected into the power supply system by a PLC modem. The commonly used power supply system modeling has not proven suitable for these measurements because it is only defined for measurements up to the measurement frequency of 30 MHz and has a low-pass behavior with respect to signals from the power supply network to the DUT, which can adversely affect a measurement setup for measurements on PLC devices (with operating frequencies above 30 MHz). Annex C of this standard provides a justification for the metrological specifications it contains, which include, on the one hand, the usual measurements of conducted emissions at AC and telecommunication connections and radiated emissions according to DIN EN 55022 (VDE 0878-22) or DIN EN 55032 (VDE 0878-32) and, on the other hand, provide for measurements at the PLC connection of the device. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.17 "EMV von Multimediageräten und -einrichtungen" ("EMC of multimedia equipment ") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
