This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 50401:2006 and its Amendment A1:2011. It contains specifications regarding the safety of persons in the general public concerning exposure due to electromagnetic fields of radio base stations and fixed terminal stations for wireless telecommunication systems in the frequency range 110 MHz to 40 GHz. The objective of this standard is to verify that such products comply with the relevant basic restrictions (specific absorption rate (SAR)) or reference levels related to the general public exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields specified in the Council Recommendation 1999/519/EEC when these devices and equipment are put into service. Modification A1:2011 serves for elimination of the A-deviations contained thus far in the EN with regard to the application of the standard in Germany, Italy or Switzerland by incorporating corresponding specifications in the standard text. In connection with the topics limits, conformity assessment and documentation of the test results, these specifications refer to the adherence to corresponding national regulations, when available. If there are no such regulations then the corresponding regulations of this standard apply. The responsible committee is K 764 "Sicherheit in elektromagnetischen Feldern" ("Safety in electromagnetic fields") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
