DIN EN 50363-0:2012-03

The various parts of EN 50363 contain the requirements for insulating, sheathing and covering materials which are used in harmonized low voltage energy cables in accordance with EN 50525. The content of EN 50363 is not and will not be limited only to materials for electric cables in accordance with EN 50525. Other materials for harmonized low voltage energy cables may also be added. Furthermore, application of materials in accordance with EN 50363 in cables outside the scope of EN 50525 is not forbidden, but it is strongly recommended to seek professional advice prior to such an application, and also prior to any suggestion to incorporate it into other standards. These standards contain modifications of some parts of the series. Standard EN 50363-0 is a new edition of the standard. In the previous edition of EN 50363-0 (2005), the origin of all materials was given in HD 21 and HD 22 and their locations in all parts of EN 50363 were given in Annex A. This second edition cancels this annex. The parts of the 50363 series, the withdrawal of which is planned, were marked in Table 1. The list of the test methods in Table 2 has been updated. The respective Amendments A1 are in - EN 50363-2-1, the modification of the text of footnote c); - EN 50363-3, the deletion of the insulation resistance test in Table 2; - EN 50363-5, the unification of the maximum permissible operating temperature in Table 1 and the unification of the test temperature under ageing conditions in Table 2; - EN 50363-6, the increase of the maximum permissible operating temperature in Table 1 and the unification of the test temperature under ageing conditions in Table 2; - EN 50363-8, the adaptation of the tests of HD 21.14 to EN 50525-3-11 The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 411.2 "Isolierte Starkstromleitungen" ("Insulated cables, wires and flexible cords for power installation") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
