DIN EN 50290-4-1:2015-04

This standard describes the environmental conditions and safety aspects of symmetrical, coaxial and optical cables used for the infrastructure of communication and control networks. It provides relationships with EC directives, in particular the EMC Directive, the Low voltage directive and the Construction product directive. The significant modification with regard to the previous edition concerns clauses on the fire reaction and fire resistance to take into account the recent development of supporting standards for the construction product directive. The responsible committee is DKE/K 412 "Kommunikationskabel (Kabel, Leitungen, Wellenleiter, Lichtwellenleiter, Komponenten, Zubehör und Anlagentechnik für die Nachrichten- und Informationsübertragung)" ("Communication cables (Cables, wires, waveguides, optical fibres, components, accessories and systems engineering for telecommunication and transmission of information)") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
