This standard applies to voltage transformers designed for fixed indoor or outdoor installations in railroad power supply systems and operated with an overhead contact line AC voltage and frequency in accordance with EN 50163. EN 50163 designates 15 kV/16,7 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz AC systems for railroads. For AC voltage railroads, the tracks are connected to earth and included in the return current path. All conductor-to-earth voltages are therefore within the permissible deviations specified in EN 50163. Nevertheless conductor to conductor voltages are some times higher, for example in autotransformer systems. The voltage transformers covered by this standard are mainly used with measuring instruments and protective devices. The standard also applies to voltage transformers other than inductive types as far as reasonably possible. Requirements of this standard have priority. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 351.2 "Ortsfeste Anlagen" ("Fixed installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 50152-3-3:2001-10; VDE 0115-320-3-3:2001-10 .
