Overview

This standard specifies the characteristics of copper and copper alloy wires of cross sections of 80 mm2, 100 mm2, 107 mm2, 120 mm2 and 150 mm2 intended for use on overhead contact lines in Europe and, as a result, serves for type limitation and rationalization. In addition to the product characteristics (such as material appearance and condition, profiles and dimensions, electrical and mechanical properties), the test methods are specified. Furthermore, the standard describes in detail ordering and delivery conditions as well as acceptance tests by the user. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 351.2 "Ortsfeste Anlagen" ("Fixed installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
