This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 50121-5:2015. This standard specifies limits and measuring methods for the emission and immunity of electrical and electronic apparatus and components which are foreseen to be installed in fixed power supply installations and apparatus such as substations. Filters are not covered within the scope. The requirements apply together with DIN EN 50121-1 (VDE 0115-121-1) and are specified for the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz. The limits for emission from substations are defined by reference to DIN EN 50121-2 (VDE 0115-121-2), and emission values based on measurements within the limits of the substation during normal operation and during the operation of switches are given for information in Annex A. The immunity tests cover the discharge of static electricity, irradiating high-frequency electromagnetic fields, fast transient electrical disturbances (burst), surge voltage, conducted disturbances induced by high-frequency fields, power frequency magnetic fields and damped oscillatory waves. The description of the test procedures shall be found in the basic standards specified at the relevant place. The evaluation criteria for immunity testing are defined by reference to DIN EN 50121-1 (VDE 0115-121-1). Compared to the existing standard, a sentence has been added to the scope (Clause 1) regarding connections intended to perform transmitting or receiving functions for the purpose of radio communication. Furthermore, the normative reference to EN 61000-4-12 has been changed to a reference to EN 61000-4-18 in order to address the immunity test against damped oscillatory waves. Finally, Annex ZZ has been adapted to the new requirements. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.12 "Funkstörungen durch Hochspannungsfreileitungen und -anlagen und EMV von Bahnen" ("Radio interference by high voltage overhead lines and installations and EMC of railways") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
