This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 50121-4:2016. It defines limit values and measurement methods for the emission and immunity of signaling and telecommunications (S&T) equipment and components used by the railways. The immunity tests cover the discharge of static electricity, irradiating high-frequency electromagnetic fields, fast transient electrical disturbances (pulse groups, burst), surge voltage, conducted disturbances induced by high-frequency fields, power frequency magnetic fields and impulse magnetic fields. The description of the test procedures shall be found in the basic standards specified at the relevant place. The evaluation criteria for immunity testing are defined by reference to DIN EN 50121-1 (VDE 0115-121-1). Compared to the previous standard, the scope of application has been revised by transferring certain specifications to Clause 6 "Immunity". Furthermore, the normative references have been partially updated. In addition, a new Table 1 with limit values for emission at AC and DC power connections has been included in place of the previous reference to EN 61000-6-4. Finally, Annex ZZ has been adapted to the new requirements. The Annex is intended to establish the relationship between the essential requirements of the European EMC Directive and the specifications of the present standard. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.12 "Funkstörungen durch Hochspannungsfreileitungen und -anlagen und EMV von Bahnen" ("Radio interference by high voltage overhead lines and installations and EMC of railways") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
