DIN EN 4701-002:2017-03

The standard series EN 4701 describes different optical rectangular modular connectors for aerospace onboard applications at an operating temperature of 125 °C. This family of optical connectors is derived from EN 4165-001 and is intended for interchangeable optical modules and contacts according to EN 4531. They provide easy access for optical contact end face cleaning. Part 002 specifies the materials, environmental classes, permissible cables, ferrule extraction force, climatic conditions, mechanical conditions and the use of blanking plugs used in the manufacture of optical modules in accordance with EN 4701. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4701-002:2013-08 as follows: a) the normative references have been supplemented, b) the usable, permissible cables in Table 2 have been extended, c) the ferrule extraction force is specified in 5.4, d) in 5.5 a reference to Table 1 has been included for corrosion resistance. The standard series EN 4701 has been prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electronics, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("Fibre optic cables and components") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
