The EN 4604 standard series describes requirements for electrical cables for signal transmission for use in aircraft electrical systems. Part 010 specifies the required characteristics of a light weight coaxial cable, 50 ohms, type KX for use in aircraft electrical systems at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 200 °C and especially for high frequencies up to 6 GHz. Nevertheless, if needed, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by the thermal stability test. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 4604-010:2010-08: a) the velocity of propagation in 4.3 has been specified at ≥ 225 000 km/s; b); the power values in 4.3 shall be confirmed by measurement or calculation; c) in the tests in 4.4, the immersion test has been added in Part 302; d) in the tests in 4.4, the temperature has been reduced to (-65 ± 2) °C in Part 415; e) in the tests in 4.4, the values have been modified in Part 505; f) in the tests in 4.4, the length of the sample has been deleted in Part 515; g) in the tests in 4.4, Part 813, power rating, has been added; h) the colour of marking has been specified in clause 7; i) clause 8 "Colours of components and jacket" has been added. The standards of the EN 4604 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
