Overview

The EN 4604 standard series describes electrical cables for signal transmission for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft. This part 008 specifies the required characteristics of a coaxial cable, 50 ohms, type WD, at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 200 °C and especially for high frequencies up to 8 GHz. Nevertheless, if needed, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by thermal stability test. The EN 4604 standard series has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee.
