The DIN EN 4531 series of standards describes the characteristics of single and multipin optical circular connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring and flush contacts for aerospace applications. Part 001 specifies the general characteristics, the conditions for qualification, acceptance and quality assurance, as well as the test programs and groups for threaded ring coupling circular fibre optic selflocking connectors, fire-resistant or non fire-resistant, intended for use in a temperature range from -65 °C to +150 °C (cable dependent) continuous. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4531-001:2012-07 as follows: a) two types of female insert have been specified; b) the normative references have been supplemented; c) in 4.4.3 the material for the alignment sleeves has been specified, the clause heading 4.4. 4 has been omitted, the clause content has been added to 4.4.3; d) the two types of female insert have been taken into account in 5.2; e) in Table 1 the value for the diameter F for shell size 25 has been changed; f) the figures of the standard have been editorially revised, Figure 10 has been provided with a legend; g) in 6. 7 a new clause "Position of the contact end faces within the female insert" and with 6.8 the new clause "Rear of the contact chamber" has been added, the previous clause "Contact arrangement" is now in 6.9, due to the inclusion of two figures in these clauses the numbering of the following figures shifted by two positions each; h) in the tests according to EN 2591 in 7.1 changes have been made to the following tests: EN 2591-6101, EN 2591-6402, EN 2591-6403, EN 2591-410, EN 2591-411; i) in 8.2.4 changes have been made in the groups in Table 8 with the exception of Group 4; j) in 8.3.1 the reference to the table has been changed; k) in Clause 9 the labeling examples with a reference to the product standards have been omitted. The standard series EN 4531 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 3 October 1986. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
