This standard defines the relevant test procedures and the general requirements for glove design and construction, resistance of glove materials to water penetration, innocuousness, comfort and efficiency, marking and information to be supplied by the manufacturer applicable to all protective gloves. It shall be used in connection with specific product standards. In particular, the standard covers aspects of quality, health protection and occupational health and safety. The standard serves in connection with specific product standards as a basis for placing protective gloves on the market in accordance with Directive 89/686/EEC on personal protective equipment. The use of protective gloves is not limited to individual economic sectors, but applies to many areas of life and jobs in various economic sectors.
