The EN 4165 series of standards describes rectangular electrical connectors of modular design for an operating temperature of 175 °C, constant, for aerospace applications. The standard DIN EN 4165-002 specifies a series of generally applicable conditions for electrical rectangular connectors in modular design for fixed and free connectors as well as plug-in connectors with interchangeable modules and a constant operating temperature of 175 °C. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4165-002:2008-06 as follows: a) in Table 1, Class C for uncoated composite material has been added for connectors, Class M for nickel-plated composite material for protective caps and Class B for nickel-plated aluminum alloy for sleeves, the shielded property for end housing Class J and the previous Class A have been omitted; b) Table 2 has been amended and the new classes have been added to the combinations in Tables 2 to 5 and Table 9; c) Subclauses 7.4 and 7.5 on the passage of current through the enclosure and on the shielding effect have been omitted; d) in Clause 9 mappings for arrangements intended only for pin contacts have been omitted; new contact arrangements have been added with Figures 7 to 10; e) the overview in Annex A has been amended and supplemented with a further mapping; in addition, an overview for individual modules has been added with Annex B. The standard differs from DIN EN 4165-002:2015-09 as follows: a) the views of modules in the following figures have been replaced by the adoption of the European Corrigendum AC from 2016: Representation 20Y22 in Figure 9 and all three representations (20Z22, 2AZ22 and 2BZ22) in Figure 10. The beginning and end of the elements changed by the Corrigendum are each indicated by change marks. The standards of the EN 4165 series are prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization body is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Electrical Connectors") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
