The EN 3774 series specifies requirements for three-pole temperature compensated circuit breakers, rated from 1 A to 25 A used in aircraft on-board circuits. The new edition of Part 001 specifies the specific environmental, electrical and mechanical characteristics and the stringency of tests to be applied according to test methods of EN 3841-100. These circuit breakers are intended for use in aircraft with electrical supplies in accordance with EN 2282. The following modifications have been made with respect to the previous edition DIN EN 3774-001:1999-08: a) the statements on the switching capacity, operating temperatures, rated currents and altitude as well as the reference to EN 2350 have have been deleted from the scope; b) the Normative References are expanded and modified; c) the structure and contents of the standard are substantially expanded and modified; d) instead of previous Clause 5 "Requirements", Clause 5 "Design" and Clause 6 "Characteristics" are added; e) Clause 7 contains the tests which are revised and partly refer to the EN 3841 series; f) Clause 8 now contains qualification tests; g) quality assurance (Clause 9) refers to EN 9133; h) Clauses Delivery conditions (Clause 11), Packaging (Clause 12) and Storage (Clause 13) have been added. The standards of the EN 3774 series were prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-05 AA "Schalter, Relais und Schutzgeräte" ("Switches, relays and protection devices") at the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace.
