Aluminium or aluminium alloy conductors are increasingly used in aircraft construction. DIN EN 3719 specifies the dimensions, linear resistance, mechanical characteristics, construction and mass of conductors in aluminium or aluminium alloy for electrical cables for aerospace applications. It applies especially to stranded conductors with nominal cross-sections of 5 mm2 to 107 mm2 inclusive. This document cancels and replaces DIN EN 3719:2006-10. The following changes have been made with respect to the previous edition: the values of some elements have been changed in Table 1, clause 4.1 "Materials". In 4.2, the minimum thickness of nickel plating has been reduced by 0,2 µm. In 4.3, the value for the elongation at rupture for each individual strand has been increased and the tensile strength has been reduced. In clause 6 "Test methods", Table 3 containing the appropriate test methods of the EN 3475 standard series has been incorporated. Clause 7 "Quality assurance", which includes a reference to EN 9133, has been added. This standard EN 3719:2010 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
