This European Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, marking specifications, information supplied by the manufacturer and packaging specifications for guided type fall arresters including a rigid anchor line, which is usually attached to or integrated in ladders or rungs adequately fixed to suitable structures. Guided type fall arresters including a rigid anchor line conforming to this European Standard are one of the fall arrest systems covered by EN 363, if they are connected to an attachment point of a harness intended for the arrest of a fall in accordance with EN 361. This European Standard applies to rigid anchor lines which are intended to be installed vertically and/or with a combination of forward-leaning angle and/or sideways leaning angle between the true vertical and the vertical 15°. Multi-user requirements and test procedures, that is rigid anchor lines that allow more than one user to be attached at any one time, are not addressed in this document. This European Standard is intended for a type examination of guided type fall arresters including a rigid anchor line before they are put on the market and only specifies minimum requirements for the performance characteristics. This shall ensure that a uniform safety level is specified. Test institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers are potential users of this standard. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directives. This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 160 "Protection against falls from height including working belts", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the DIN Standards Committee Personal Protective Equipment (DIN-Normenausschuss Persönliche Schutzausrüstung) (NPS), Working Committee NA 075-03-01 AA "Persönliche Schutzausrüstung gegen Absturz" ("Personal protection equipment against falls from height including working belts").
