This European Standard specifies a method of determining the minimum pressing time for two glue line thicknesses, that is, a close contact glue line and 0,3 mm thick glue line at three temperatures. The standard is applicable to adhesives used in load-bearing timber structures and serves for comparison of the minimum pressing times between adhesives on a reliable basis. The results obtained by this method cannot be applied unmodified to the manufacture of timber structures without taking into consideration the influences of timber density and absorbency, moisture content, processing temperature and relative air humidity. During testing beech lap joints are tested in tensile shear after various curing times until it is found that the strength has reached a value of 4 N/mm2. With respect to DIN EN 302-6:2004-10 the title has been modified and the glue line thickness of 0,2 mm has been replaced by close contact glue line and 0,3 mm thick glue line. Furthermore, specifications for the testing machine have been added and the pressing times linked with the reactivity of the adhesive have been specified. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-05 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Holzklebung" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Wood adhesives") at DIN.
