This European Standard specifies a method for determining the resistance to delamination in glue lines. The standard serves for assessing the compliance of adhesives with DIN EN 301, DIN EN 15425 and DIN EN 16254 and for assessing the suitability and quality of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures. The test method is not applicable for modified and stabilised wood with strongly reduced swelling and shrinkage properties, such as acetylated wood, heat-treated wood and polymer impregnated wood. The test is intended primarily to determine performance data for the classification of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures according to their suitability for use in defined climatic environments. With respect to DIN EN 302-2:2004-10 the scope has been extended to include polyurethane adhesives according to DIN EN 15425 and emulsion polymerised isocyanate according to DIN EN 16254. The scope now states that this standard is not applicable for modified wood. It has been specified that the test with Norway spruce also covers approval of silver fir and Scots pine and it has been added this standard is not applicable for adhesive system for separate application of adhesive and hardener. The glue spread for minimum and maximum assembly time is given for phenolic and aminoplastic adhesives. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-05 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Holzklebung" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Wood adhesives") at DIN.
