The series of standards EN 2665 describes requirements for three-pole temperature compensated circuit breakers, rated from 20 A to 50 A and used in aircraft on-board circuits. For three-pole temperature compensated circuit breakers without signal contacts, part 001 specifies specific environmental, electrical and mechanical characteristics and the stringency of tests to be applied according to test methods of EN 3841-100. These circuit breakers are intended for use in aircraft with electrical supplies in accordance with EN 2282. Compared to the previous edition of DIN EN 2665-001:1999-08, the following modifications have been made: a) in the scope, information regarding the operating temperatures, rated currents and altitude and reference to EN 2350 has been deleted; b) normative references have been extended and modified; c) the structure and contents of the standard have been fundamentally modified and extended; d) instead of former Clause 5 "Requirements", Clause 5 "Design" and Clause 6 "Characteristics" have been added; e) Clause 7 covers the tests, which have been revised and partially refer to the series EN 3841; f) Clause 8 now also includes qualification tests; g) quality assurance (Clause 9) refers to EN 9133; h) additionally, the clauses Delivery conditions (Clause 11), Packaging (Clause 12) and Storage (Clause 13) have been added. The standards of the series EN 2665 have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Department of Electrical Engineering, with the collaboration of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization body is Working Committee NA 131-04-05 AA "Schalter, Relais und Schutzgeräte" ("Switch, relays and protection devices") at the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
