The standards of the EN 2591 series describe test methods for electrical and optical connection for aerospace use. The new edition of Part 214 specifies a method of measuring the ability of an element of connection to withstand specified severities of simulated lightning strikes, both current pulse and voltage pulse. It shall be used together with EN 2591-100. The following modifications have been made with respect to the previous document DIN EN 2591-214:2006-08: in 5.2.1 class F has been added to the current pulse amplitudes and the illustrations have been editorially revised. The standards of the EN 2591 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrical, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Connector") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN 2591-214:2006-08 .
