Overview

CEN/TC 250 decided in 2008 that no revision of the Eurocodes shall be carried out at least until March 2013. However, necessary amendments and corrigenda of the Eurocodes could be published until March 2013. This decision led to a large number of amendments and corrigenda, which were mostly published as separate documents. For better applicability of the Eurocodes together with these separate documents, the DIN prepares consolidated versions as new versions for all Eurocodes affected by this. These consolidated versions then contain the current amendments and corrigenda. In this context, the mentions of replacement on the Eurocodes are also supplemented accordingly. A new edition is also published, even if only the superseding note is to be supplemented. DIN EN 1992-1-2 deals with the design of concrete structures for the exceptional situation of fire exposure and is used in conjunction with EN 1992-1-1 and EN 1991-1-2. This standard contains deviating and additional specifications for the design rules for structures at normal ambient temperatures; active fire prevention methods are not taken into account. This standard applies to concrete structures that are required to fulfil certain functions when exposed to fire, in terms of: - avoiding premature collapse of the structure (load-bearing function) and, if required, - limiting fire spread (flame, hot gases, excessive heat) beyond designated areas (separating function). European Amendment EN 1992-1-2:2004/AC:2008 has been incorporated into this new edition. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-52-22 AA "Konstruktiver baulicher Brandschutz (Spiegelausschuss zu Teilbereichen von CEN/TC 250)" ("Structural fire protection (Mirror Committee to parts of CEN/TC 250/SC 3)") at DIN.
