Overview

The objective of this standard is to establish an interoperable interface between in-vehicle tyre information systems (TIS) and the tyre pressure gauge (TPG). According to European Regulation No. 661/2009, all newly homologated vehicles must be equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as of November 2012 and all new vehicles as of November 2014. In order to provide the customer with the correct set pressure when inflating the tyres, the necessary vehicle data is transmitted to the tyre pressure gauge via a wireless interface. On the one hand, this standard describes different functional application levels and, on the other hand, all of the necessary functional parameters that are required in order to realize the function. The standard does not specify any physical requirements for wireless data transmission.
