Overview

This standard provides additional requirements for protective gloves that are worn in explosive areas. It specifies a test method and requirements for performance, marking and information for electrostatic dissipative protective gloves to minimize explosion risks. This standard serves as a basic standard for placing chemical protective suits on the market in accordance with Directive 89/686/EEC for personal protection equipment. This shall ensure that a uniform safety level is specified. Test institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers are potential users of this standard. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of EU directives. This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 162 "Protective clothing including hand and arm protection and lifejackets", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German standards committee is NA 075-05-08 AA "Handschutz" ("Protective gloves") at the Personal Protective Equipment Standards Committee (NPS) at DIN.
