Overview

This European Standard specifies a test method for the determination of resistance to dynamic loading in order to assess the burglar resistant properties of pedestrian doorsets, windows, curtain walling, grilles and shutters. It is applicable to the following opening functions: turning, tilting, folding, turn-tilting, top or bottom hung, sliding (horizontally and vertically), projecting, pivoted (horizontally and vertically) and rolling as well as non-openable constructions. It is acknowledged that there are two aspects to the burglar resistance performance of construction products, their normal resistance to forced operation and their ability to remain fixed to the building. Due to the limitations of being able to replicate the fixing methods and the construction of the building in a laboratory environment, this aspect is not fully covered in the present standard. This is especially true for products that are built into a building. The performance of the attached portion of the product is evaluated using a standardized supporting sub-frame. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that instructions for fixing the product are included in the installation instructions and that these instructions are appropriate for the class of burglar resistance claimed by the product. As in the other referenced standards, this specification uses a standardized supporting sub-frame into which the product is installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The fastening method to be considered is described in detail in EN 1627:2011, Annex A. This test method does not evaluate the design of the attachment to the building. This European Standard does not apply to doors, gates and barriers intended for installation in pedestrian access areas and whose main intended use is to provide safe access for goods and vehicles, escorted or guided (controlled) by persons, in industrial, commercial or residential areas, which is covered in EN 13241-1. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-09-02 AA "Einbruchschutz" ("Burglar resistance") at DIN.
