DIN EN 16246:2013-04

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. This European Standard is intended to be used together with EN ISO 4254-1:2009 and EN 15811:2009 and specifies the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of hydraulic backhoes mounted to the three point linkage of a tractor. It describes methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from the intended use of these machines by one person (the operator) in the course of normal operation and service. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer. This document, taken together with EN ISO 4254-1, deals with the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to hydraulic backhoes mounted to the three point linkage of a tractor, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse foreseeable by the manufacturer. This document is not applicable to hydraulic backhoes which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN. The document contains the German version of EN 16246:2012 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-16-30 AA "Einzelthemen" ("Individual issues") of the Normengruppe Landtechnik ("Agricultural Engineering Standards Group") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the interested parties were involved in the preparation of this standard.
