Overview

This standard specifies the test methods and approval conditions for braking systems intended for self-propelled internal combustion engines or electrical multiple units to be operated on conventional railway lines. The regulatory authority specifies the applicable braking system standard for each multiple unit train which is operable in accordance with both EN 13452 and this standard. This document introduces a subdivision of subsystems according to their respective functionality. The braking system is part of the function: accelerations, constant velocities, braking and stopping.
