This standard describes a set of procedures for using already existing standardized CEN or ISO test and calculation methods, with which the declared thermal performance of reflective insulation products can be determined. This standard supports existing CEN or ISO test methods and is not intended to replace these. This standard applies to any thermal insulation product for which a considerable proportion of the claimed thermal properties is achieved from the presence of one or more reflective or low emissivity surfaces together with any associated airspace(s). It does not replace the existing procedures for the determination of the thermal performance of products already covered by an existing harmonized product standard where the declared value of these products does not specifically include any claims attributable to the emissivity of the facing. The standard DIN 16012 has been prepared by CEN/TC 89 "Thermal performance of buildings and building components" (secretariat: SIS, Sweden). The responsible national mirror committee at the Building and Civil Engineering Standards Committee is NA 005-56-98 AA "Wärmetechnisches Messen" ("Thermal measurement").
