The European Standard DIN EN 15981 "European Learner Mobility Model - Achievement information (EuroLMAI)" specifies a model for documentation and exchange of information about the achievement of the learner between learning management information systems, and for combining information of third parties. The EuroLMAI fulfils therewith the demands for a tailored solution for documentation and exchange of information about mobility of learners in the European Education Area. The results of this work will contribute to the reinforcement of the efforts to achieve an interoperable Europe-wide IT system which is suitable for administration and exchange of information about the achievement of learners. Establishment of the Europass as a Europe-wide recognized common framework shows that European education has reached the point at which it is necessary that documentation and exchange of information about the mobility of learners give effective support by using technical standards dealing with interoperability. The model introduced by this European Standard is not intended to define the representation of the entire spectrum; the scope of this standard is limited to the electronic representation of the formal information about the achievement of the learner taking part in an educational programme, which has been certified by an institution in order to facilitate documentation and subsequent exchange of information within the European Education Area. This European Standard contains, in addition to the EuroLMAI, an application profile of the EuroLMAI Model, which, with its refinements and limitations, provides a precise representation of the Europass diploma supplement (DS). The Europass diploma supplement is deemed to be one of the most important Europass documents, as it plays an important role for transparent interpretation and approval of academic and professional qualifications (leaving certificates, degrees, certifications) in the various European educational systems. EN 15981:2011 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 353 "Information and communication technologies for learning, education and training", the secretariat of which is held by UNI. German Mirror Committee is NA 043-00-36 AA "Lerntechnologien" ("Learning technologies").
