This standard specifies data protocols and formats for the interfaces between electronic equipment (TVE), on-board computer (PBS) of the tank vehicle and stationary equipment for all interconnecting communication paths. This standard specifies the basic protocol FTC used in the communication (basic protocol layer), the format and structure of FTL-data to be transmitted (data protocol layer) and describes the content of the FTL-data. This data protocol may be used for other application, for example, between stationary tank equipment and offices. DIN EN 15969-1 replaces DIN 26051-2 "Data interface for tank trucks and transport vehicles - Part 2: Protocol data". The following significant modifications have been made with respect to DIN 26051-2:2001-02: a) confirmed transmission protocol has been added; b) possibility of transfer to TCP/IP and internet has been expanded; c) online request of the system status and data sets has been enabled via "nodes"; d) FTP protocol has been allowed. This European Standard has been prepared by Working Group 8 "Electronic equipment and products" (secretariat: DIN) of Technical Committee CEN/TC 296 "Tanks for transport of dangerous goods" (secretariat: France). Regarding German collaboration, the Committee responsible for the preparation is Working Committee NA 104-02-04 AA "Überfüllsicherungen und Füllstandsanzeiger" ("Overfill prevention devices and tank content gauges") at the Tank Installations Standards Committee (NATank) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e.
