DIN EN 15958:2012-02

The standards DIN EN 15958, DIN 15959, DIN EN 15960 and DIN EN 15961 have been prepared under the mandate M/335 given to CEN by the European Commission to validate the test methods specified in Annex IV of Regulation (EC) No 2003/2003 relating to fertilizers, adapt them to the state of the art and to publish them as European Standards. The test methods were initially published at the CEN level as Technical Specifications and at the national level as DIN SPEC prestandards. After corresponding acceptance, the documents have subsequently been adopted as European Standards under the Unique Acceptance Procedure (UAP).
The standard DIN EN 15958 replaces DIN SPEC 1171 and specifies a method for the extraction of water soluble phosphorus. The method is applicable to all fertilizers, including compound fertilizers, where water soluble phosphorus is to be determined.
The standard DIN EN 15959 replaces DIN SPEC 1172 and specifies a method of the determination of phosphorus in individual extracts. The method is applicable to all extracts of fertilizers for the determination of the different forms of phosphorus, such as phosphorus soluble in mineral acids, water soluble phosphorus, phosphorus soluble in solutions of ammonium citrate having different concentrations, phosphorus soluble in 2 % citric acid and phosphorus soluble in 2 % formic acid.
The standard DIN EN 15960 replaces DIN SPEC 1173 and specifies a method for the extraction of total calcium, total magnesium and total sodium and of total sulfur present in the form of sulfates. The method is applicable to fertilizers listed in Regulation (EC) 2003/2003, Annex I, for which the declaration of these contents is required.
