This European Standard specifies test-bench measurement procedures for determining the source-related input data required to calculate the installed acoustic power of the source, i.e. the free speed, the blocked power and the admittance of the system; defines the declaration of the installed sound power of the source for any source and receiver admittance conditions, including light and heavy receiver components. This sound power level is used as an input in EN 12354-5, which predicts the structure-borne sound pressure level generated by the source installed on-site in a building; defines a procedure for calculating the structure-borne sound power generated by notionally mounting two reference test rigs (heavy and light, respectively); the two results serve to inform the manufacturer about the difference in performance of the system between these two common but extremely different situations; does not currently define a method for measuring the source airborne sound power. Should measurements of the airborne sound power of the system be required, reference is made to the EN ISO 3740 to EN ISO 3747 series, whereby the same source installation conditions and operating conditions as for the measurement according to EN 15657 shall be applied. Throughout this standard, the frequency range is limited to the 21 one-third octave bands with center frequencies from 50 Hz to 5 000 Hz. The values determined in this standard serve to predict the structure-borne sound level generated by building services in buildings, such as plumbing, mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling, building services, elevators, garbage disposal units, boilers, fans, pumps and other building services equipment, as well as motorized garage doors; it can also be applied to other systems attached to or installed in buildings. However, the document is currently limited to stationary sources. This document has been prepared by European Technical Committee CEN/TC 126 "Acoustic properties of building products and of buildings", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-02-32 AA "Bauakustische Installationsmessungen" ("Measurements of installation systems in building acoustics") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN EN 15657-1:2009-10 .
