Overview

The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 144/WG 7 "Garden equipment" (secretariat: BSI, Great Britain). The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Subcommittee NA 020-00-11-09 "Laubsauger" ("Leaf blowers") at NAEBM, which has also prepared the German version. This standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for the design and construction of hand-held combustion engine powered and back-pack combustion engine powered garden vacuums and garden blower/vacuums with or without shredding means and garden blowers, designed for one operator only. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices (including residual risks) to be provided by the manufacturer. The standard only applies to equipment operated by one person only.
