This European Standard specifies a laboratory method for determining the minimum pressing time for different glue line thicknesses at different temperatures and wood moisture contents in order to provide a reliable base for comparison of minimum pressing time between adhesives under referenced conditions. The method gives a result that cannot be applied to the safe manufacture of timber structures without taking into account the influence in variation of factors such as timber density, moisture content, factory temperature and relative air humidity. Adhesive joints on overlapped test specimens made of beech are subjected to tensile shear tests after different curing times until the shear strength reaches a limit value at a certain temperature and certain wood moisture content. In comparison to DIN EN 15416-5:2006-10, the title has been modified and applications for EPI adhesives according to EN 16254 have been included. The procedure has been adapted to DIN EN 302-6 and failure types have been taken into account. The determination and reporting of glue line thickness has been deleted. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 042-04-05 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Holzklebung" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Wood adhesives") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN 15416-5:2006-10 .
