This European Standard specifies requirements for machine-made (woven, tufted, knitted, needled, flocked, bonded, hand-tufted) rugs and runners, including a classification according to use intensity and luxury. This European Standard is not applicable to hand-knotted rugs, to barrier mats or to bathroom rugs. This standard differs from DIN EN 14215:2003-09 and DIN EN 15825:2010-08 as follows: a) the content of both standards has been combined in this document; b) clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated; c) clause 3 "Terms and definitions" has been revised; d) clause 5 "Basic requirements" has been summarised; e) clause 7 "Luxury classification" has been modified; f) normative annexes have been modified. This document (EN 14215:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 134 "Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German committee is NA 054-04-09 "Prüfung und Verwendungsbereichseinstufung von textilen Bodenbelägen" ("Testing and field of classification of textile floor coverings") at the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK) at DIN.
