This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin" (secretariat: NEN, Netherlands) under close German collaboration. The responsible German body involved in its preparation is Working Committee NA 062-06-32-01 UA "Prüfung von FAME" ("Testing of FAME") at the Standardization Committee for Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products (FAM) of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN. DIN EN 14214 specifies requirements and test methods for marketed and delivered fatty acid methyl esters (hereafter known as FAME) to be used either as fuel for diesel engines or for heating applications at 100 % concentration, or as an extender for distillate fuel for diesel engines in accordance with the requirements of EN 590 and/or for heating fuel. At 100 % concentration FAME is applicable to fuel for use in diesel engines and in heating applications designed or subsequently adapted to run on 100 % FAME.
