This European Standard EN 15954-1 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 256 "Railway applications", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German committee is NA 087-00-01-02 UA "Gleisbaumaschinen und -geräte" ("Track construction and maintenance machines") at DIN Standards Committee Railway (FSF). This document will replace EN 14033-2:2008. The EN 14033 series of standards "Railway applications - Track - Railbound construction and maintenance machines" consists of the following parts: - Part 1: Technical requirements for running, - Part 2: Technical requirements for travelling and working, - Part 3: General safety requirements. This document deals with the railway-specific requirements for machines in working and travel positions and takes account of special national conditions. Hazards that exist in all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other components of machinery and that are included in the scopes of corresponding European Standards are not dealt with in this European Standard. It has been prepared in accordance with the essential requirements of the EC Directives to facilitate the free movement of goods and services. It defines the railway-specific technical requirements for relocation and the use of machines and other vehicles for construction, maintenance and inspection of the superstructure, structures, substructure and overhead contact line systems (overhead contact line and conductor rail) in accordance with EN 14033-1. It applies to all track-mounted machines and other vehicles running only on tracks with adhesion operation for the construction, maintenance and inspection of the superstructure, structures, substructure and overhead contact line systems (overhead line and conductor rail). This European Standard applies to machines built for use with signaling and train control systems. Additional requirements may exist for working applications on narrow gauge or wide gauge infrastructures, streetcar lines, railroads using a different adhesion between rail and wheel, and underground infrastructures. This standard differs from DIN EN 14033-2:2012-03 as follows: a) normative references have been updated; b) Clause 3 “Terms and definitions” has been revised; c) Clause 5 “Specific railway requirements and/or measures” has been revised; d) Clause 8 “Marking of machines” has been revised; e) all annexes have been revised; f) the annex with the certification has been deleted; g) Annex L “Design specification for earthing pantograph(s) where permitted on individual infrastructures” has been included; h) the standard has been editorially revised.
This document replaces DIN EN 14033-2:2012-03 .
