This standard describes a conventional standard method for assessing potential emissions from adhesives after their application. This standard applies only to "solvent-free" and "low-solvent" adhesives as they are defined in EN 923:2005+A1:2008. The adhesives shall be applicable at room temperature. Compared with DIN EN 13999-2:2006-11, the following changes have been made: a safety statement and an environmental statement have been added to the foreword, the definition of VOC (3.1) and requirements for the test apparatus (Clause 5) have been brought in line with CEN/TS 16516, and requirements have been adapted to the new CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC, and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. This document (EN 13999-1:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 193 "Adhesives", the secretariat of which is held by AENOR (Spain). Collaboration of DIN at CEN/TC 193 "Adhesives" is performed through the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK), amongst others. Working Committee NA 054-04-06 AA "Klebstoffe - Terminologie; physikalisch-chemische Prüfungen" ("Polymeric adhesives terminology; physical and chemical testing") of DIN has been involved in the preparation of this document.
This document replaces DIN EN 13999-1:2006-11 .
