Overview

With the new version of EN 13869, mechanical test methods as an alternative to the child panel test method have been introduced for some types of lighter for the first time; these are based upon the findings and recommendations from a study on child resistance requirements for cigarette lighters that was commissioned and undertaken in 2013. In addition, the standard contains a sequential test method as an alternative to the full child panel test method. Committee NA 020-00-09 AA "Feuerzeuge" ("Lighters") is responsible at DIN.
