This European Standard specifies the definitions and requirements for ancillary fittings of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene (PE) intended to be used in underground drainage and sewerage systems for gravity systems conforming to EN 476:1997. This standard is applicable for: a) ancillary fittings which are solely intended for underground application outside the building structure and which are marked with application area code "U". b) ancillary fittings which are intended for underground application outside the building structure (application area code "U") and within the building structure (application area code "D") and marked with application area code "UD". It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this standard. The European Standard series EN 13598 "Plastic piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage - Unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE)" consists of the following parts: Part 1: Specifications for ancillary fittings including shallow inspection chambers (this standard); Part 2: Specifications for manholes and inspection chambers in traffic areas and deep underground installations (standard); Part 3: Assessment of conformity (Technical Specification under preparation). The following amendments have been made with regard to DIN EN 13598-1:2003-12: a) requirements for reformulated materials have been incorporated; b) test requirements for mechanical saddles have been incorporated; c) the standard has been editorially revised. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 119-05-28-09 GUA "Gemeinschaftsunterausschuss NAW/FNK: Kunststoffschläuche (CEN/TC 155/WG 20)" ("Joint Subcommittee NAW/FNK: Plastic hoses (CEN/TC 155/WG 20)") at DIN.
