Overview

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I, Clause 1 of the Directive 2004/108/EC on electromagnetic compatibility, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, the manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Directive on electromagnetic compatibility (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard specifies test methods and acceptance criteria for the evaluation of the electromagnetic compatibility of construction machinery with respect to free trade of goods in the European Union. It deals with functional EMC requirements under typical EMC environmental conditions. This European Standard does not deal with functional safety requirements. Electrical and/or electronic component(s) or independent technical unit(s) intended to be fitted in construction machinery are also within the scope of this European Standard. The following electromagnetic disturbance phenomena are considered: * broadband and narrowband electromagnetic interference; * electromagnetic field immunity test; *broadband and narrowband interference of electrical/electronic sub-assemblies; * electromagnetic field immunity test of electrical/electronic sub-assemblies; * electrostatic discharge; * conducted transients. Construction machinery can have DC and/or AC internal electrical power supply systems. Machines that are designed to be supplied by the "Public Mains Network" are specifically excluded. This standard contains the German version of EN 13309:2010, which was prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following changes have been made with respect to DIN EN 13309:2000: a) clause 2: update of the normative references; b) clause 3: revision of the definitions, new definitions added; c) clause 4: revision of the requirements for testing of electromagnetic compatibility; d) update of Annex ZA. During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Committee NA 060-13-15 AA "Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit" ("Electromagnetic compatibility") of Technical Section "Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen" ("Construction and construction material machinery") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of construction machinery, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard.
