This European Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the construction, safety, marking and rational use of energy of open fronted gas-fired independent space heaters with and without a fan to assist with the transportation of flue gases. Although the fan can be mounted outdoors, this standard only covers appliances where the body of the appliance is indoors. It applies to types B11AS, B11BS, B11CS, B14AS, and B14BS open fronted gas-fired independent space heating appliances that incorporate an atmospheric burner; that are connected directly to an open flue, or to a device to evacuate the products of combustion (open-flued appliances); that have a nominal heat input not exceeding 20 kW (based on the net calorific value); that are delivered with the gas-carrying components, burner(s), combustion chamber and heat exchanger fully assembled. Annex K of this standard contains all changes compared to EN 13278:2003. So, technical instructions shall contain information on the nature of the electrical protection, conversion to different gases, and safety time of flame supervision systems, classes of efficiency and on the assembly. Appliance categories and the corresponding gases and pressures are referenced in EN 437. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 040-02-02-AA "Gasraumheizer und -heizeinsätze - Deutscher Spiegelausschuss CEN/TC 62 Gasbefeuerte Raumheizgeräte" ("Gas Space heater and insets for heating - German mirror committee CEN/TC 622 fired space heater") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN 13278:2003-07 .
