EN 13145 "Railway applications - Track - Wood sleepers and bearers" defines wood species, quality requirements, origin, manufacturing conditions, forms, dimensions and tolerances as well as the durability and preservation of wood sleepers and bearers for use in railway tracks. The document does not cover specific finishing processes that may be required by the customer. Furthermore, the document does not apply to other track timbers. Through Amendment 1 (EN 13145:2001+A1:2001), this standard is evaluated with regard to the TSI infrastructure for conventional traffic and the relationship between this standard and EC Directive 2008/57/EC is given in Annex ZA.
