The European Standard series EN 13141 deals with the performance testing of components or products for residential ventilation within ventilation for buildings. Part 4 of this European Standard series specifies aerodynamic, acoustic and electrical power performance test methods for fans used in residential ventilation. These methods primarily concern ventilation fans installed on a wall or in a window without any duct, those installed in the downstream, in or upstream of a duct or encased ventilation fans having several inlets. For acoustic performance testing one of three given methods shall be used. These are either the in-duct method, the reverberant room method or the free-field method, or semi-reverberant room method. This document (FprEN 13141-4:2011) has been prepared by Working Group WG 2 "Natural and mechanical powered residential ventilation" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) at Technical Committee CEN/TC 156 "Ventilation for buildings" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom).
